Professional

Evidence

Many of the courses I have taken throughout my graduate degree have contributed to the development of this competence. Through courses like sociocultural determinants, coaching, and professional practice, I have become more aware and cognizant of professional privilege, my assumptions, and values, which can influence the client-therapist relationship.

I am currently a member of the CAOT and OSOT, which are overarching bodies with the aim to protect occupational therapists and provide professional development. In the fall of 2015 I attended the OSOT conference for occupational therapy where I was able to attend workshops and seminars on many new topics and areas within occupational therapy thus enhancing my practice knowledge base.

I am attending the 2016 CAOT conference in Banff to further develop my knowledge base and understanding of ethics and professional standards.

Future Learning

I aim to take at least one course within my first year of practice to further my professional development.

I will also be a member of my provincial and national occupational therapy organizations to utilize the professional development opportunities and ensure good ethical practice standing.
