Practice Manager
Evidence
In my level two fieldwork placement I had to manage and plan the daily schedule for my preceptor and I, to do this I needed to understand the goals and current therapeutic outcomes for each client case so that I could prioritize the cases according to the hospital-wide prioritization tool. In addition, I communicated individualized client intervention plans to therapy aids so that they could carry out the assigned work activity prior to the re-assessment date.
Throughout my graduate degree I have been involved in extracurricular activities such as SGPS representative for rehabilitation student council, intramurals, and co-chair of the Health and Human Rights Conference. I needed to prioritize and organize my time efficiently so that I could be an effective team player, contribute to group discussions, and manage my school work. In September 2015, I was awarded the Cora E. Hewitt Scholarship as recognition of academic excellence.
Future Learning
Within five years of graduating, I hope to supervise at least one occupational therapy student to support fieldwork education and give back to the profession.

Occupational therapists must be proficient in the practice manager competency because they need to manage their time, prioritize tasks and cases, and support effective and efficient practice.
